Concerned Citizens for COVID Action, a group recently formed to urge the Saskatchewan government for stronger action to contain the pandemic, welcomes some of Premier Scott Moe’s September 16 announcements concerning vaccination mandates. These addressed some of our group’s concerns by ordering mandated indoor masking (albeit temporarily) and implementing QR code vaccine passports to increase vaccine uptake.
However, we remain concerned regarding confusion about the isolation of unvaccinated, confirmed contacts of Covid positive cases, particularly students under the age of 12.
We are also concerned that the Saskatchewan Health Authority has “slowed down” 156 services in order to free up highly skilled resources. CEO of SHA, Scott Livingstone, would not offer a transparent triage protocol should healthcare capacity become overwhelmed.
Both Premier Scott and Dr. Saqib Shahab stated that “we all enjoyed summer”, indicating the lifting of restrictions on July 11, 2021, was acceptable. We do not concur— over 600 Saskatchewan citizens have died of Covid infection.
Although we have postponed rallies in Saskatchewan scheduled for September 19th, we pledge to continue to hold Premier Scott Moe and Health Minister Paul Merriman accountable for Covid action to prevent Covid infection and death of Saskatchewan citizens. We will continue organizing to express the majority of Saskatchewan residents’ concerns that handling public health through “strong recommendations” and individual volition is inadequate.

We are an independent, grassroots and self-funded group with the goal of urging Premier Scott Moe and Health Minister Paul Merriman to take immediate action to mitigate the spread of COVID in the province of Saskatchewan. We love all children and want to protect our children under the age of 12 years. We care about our vulnerable citizens – no one should have to suffer with COVID infection, deal with possible long-term consequences of the disease or be at risk of losing their life. We want to support all our frontline workers – healthcare, food distribution, and retail.
