Pretending COVID is over doesn’t make it over
COVID is not over. Long COVID is a real and not uncommon affliction months after infection, including in children. As of September 2022, the USA has a COVID death count that is equivalent to one “9/11 attack weekly.” Canada’s deaths have plateaued at a high rate.
The “urgency of normal” campaign pursued by governments will be a mass disabling event. As even the CDC relaxes all guidelines, including self-quarantine recommendations and masks in hospitals, as political figures pretend that COVID is dealt with (so they can be re-elected), as of 2022, we must all take precautions and puncture the illusion of normalcy — not so that we can be worried all the time, but so that we can truly “live with the virus” and live our best lives while navigating the pandemic.
There is no one “bullet-proof” protection, only layers. High-quality masks are one of those layers, a proven preventive strategy to prevent children from getting or transmitting COVID-19 indoors or in crowds.
Don’t let your child have their studies and fun interrupted by COVID. Encourage your children to mask at school, and show them how. Advocate for and support COVID safety protocols in Saskatchewan schools.
This is one of our campaign graphics created for Creating COVID Campaigns, our graphic design/PSA “jam” at the end of August to encourage people to aspire to a COVID-free province.
